Barac Caves

Take some time to visit Barac caves and experience the nature that our ancestors had, pure and beautiful in its simplicity that modern society is slowly forgotten. Enter the underworld and discover the stunning world that lurks beneath us and generously opens doors to us.

An expert guide will lead you along the illuminated path between the magnificent landmarks and tell you in
a 60-minute walk about its millennial origins, geological structure and valuable archeological finds. They will introduce you to history and show you many stone monuments, show you the former habitat of the cave bear, the place where the bronze bracelet was found from the Middle Ages.

The temperature in the cave is always around 9 degrees Celsius, all year round, so it is advisable to have a jacket or T-shirt and suitable footwear.

All hikers, recreationists, nature lovers and Nordic hikers are offered three newly renovated and marked hiking trails in the Significant Landscape of the Barać Cave. The trails are circular, bearing specific names after protected large carnivores that live in the area of ​​significant landscape - wolf, lynx and bear, and accordingly special markings have been made - wolf, lynx, or bear paw! The trails are additionally marked with signposts at important intersections, and the start and finish is at the Barać Caves picnic area.

OUR TIP: For lovers of active holidays, we recommend renting a bike and cycling through the Plitvice Valleys all the way to Barac caves. The circular tour from the Degenija Hotel to the Barac Caves is 27 km (4-5 hours with a tour). It can be combined with a tour of Drežnik Grad, the Korana canyon and the Ranch Deer Valley.
